Thursday, September 9

 Hi parents,

Today was an awesome day for room 4! In the morning, the students followed up on yesterday's "exclamation mark" writing activity, this time writing and illustrating short stories that about an exciting, surprising, or scary event. I was so blown away by how hard everyone worked on this - back when I was teaching Grade 1/2, a task like this would've probably taken a full week to complete! Many students are well on their way to being finished their stories already, and they're quite entertaining.

We did more work around representing numbers in math, and most students have had a chance to learn (or relearn) how to use the Stamp Game.

In the afternoon, we had our first fire drill of the year, and once again I was so impressed by how responsible the students' were throughout the entire drill. Fire drills can be pretty intimidating but we made it through this one flawlessly.

We did practiced spelling and did some story telling at the end of the day.

Tomorrow is our first spelling quiz of the year! Based on what Ive seen in class, I'd say everyone is already good to go - but I'm sure some last minute practice wouldn't hurt. :)

Have a nice evening,

Zac
