Hi parents,
We had a pretty good day today. In the morning, the students worked in groups to record voice-overs for to accompany a video showcasing our work with Ms. Sharon. The students shared their knowledge of traditional foods found in different countries, and where the ingredients for these meals come from.
We watched some videos that taught about popular celebrations and holidays in Tunisia. We learned that Ramadan and Eid are the biggest holidays, but also that there are many smaller events and festivals that occur throughout the year. At these events, horseback riding and camel riding displays are often featured. Tunisia even hosts some camel races, which are super intense. The camels are ridden by whipping robots rather than people. It's pretty interesting.
In math, we learned about "Fact Families" in multiplication and division. Learning to connect division to multiplication should help the students have an easier time with solving division problems mentally. Just like with multiplication, any practice you choose to do at home will certainly help! The more automaticity students have in recalling basic facts, the more easily they'll be able to solve more complex multi-step problems.
Have a nice night,
Zac
