Hi parents,
We had an all-around great day today. Our morning work period was quiet and students were working hard, so we were able to extend it to 90 minutes, which gave me plenty of time to check in with individual students and make sure everyone was understanding the division we've been learning lately.
These division skills came in handy later, as the students were presented with the problem:
"There are 36 students in a class. How many different ways can the teacher divide them into equal groups?"
The class worked in groups to solve this multi-solution problem, and actually did a really good job of getting along and cooperating. Groupwork can be tricky.
We did "Think About It Thursday", and discussed the quote from Tecumseh: "A single twig breaks, but the bundle of twigs is strong." The students were pretty good at understanding that the twigs were symbolic of people working together.
In the afternoon, we did Daily LA, and we also did our Seven Sacred Teachings bingo check-in. The students wrote about a time during the day that they practiced one of the seven virtues. The goal is to get all seven in a line over the next two weeks.
Tomorrow is our spelling quiz, and we are also going to be finishing The Little Prince!
Have a nice night,
Zac
