Monday

Hi parents,
Today was a great first day back at school! The students all seemed happy to see their friends and teachers and to share all about their Winter Breaks.
Today was a pretty typical Monday still, and the students spent their work period time practicing spelling words, working on math problems, and writing about their breaks in their journals. Its always hard to predict how hard the class will work after having so much time off, but today, they really amazed me! Today many students actually did the best writing they've done all year. :)
The math problems this year are kind of just reviewing addition, subtraction, and doubles. I'm continuing to challenge the Grade 2 students to do multiplication problems by 2's, which are of course the same as addition problems with doubles.
Today our class also welcomed Ms. Infante, a student teacher from St. Ambrose University. She will be working with students and teaching lessons over the next 5 weeks!
Gymnastics at LBS
We will begin gymnastics in our regularly scheduled gym classes on Monday, January 6, 2020.  The gymnastics unit will last approximately four weeks.  Safety routines, cooperation and good sportsmanship are taught and reviewed in each class.
This physical activity opportunity will help students acquire individual skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities.
It is important for students to come to school prepared for being actively engaged. The following guidelines are very helpful…
HEAD TO TOE - READY TO GO!!!
Head ....................... long hair pulled back
Ears/Throat/Wrist ............... jewelry off
Shirt.................................. one layer shirt
Waist ................................................tucked in
Pants.........................sporty pants or shorts, no belts or zippers
Ankles..........................pants rolled up if ankles are covered
Toes...............running shoes, gymnastic slippers or bare feet (no footed tights)
“Playing & moving safely is everyone’s responsibility”
Have a nice night,
Zac
