Monday

Hello families,
We had a great day today, you might say it was an exceptionally good Monday.
In the morning, the students worked on their journals and practiced spelling words. Today we talked about adjectives, and the students challenged themselves to add at least one adjective to every sentence that they wrote! Today was a huge breakthrough day for several students, who were able to complete their journal entries without any extra help!
The class went to Music, and then we had a spelling lesson. We talked about how weird it is that english words can end with 'ck' (which seems redundant as it is), but they never start with it.
In the afternoon, we had Daily 5, Gym, and Math Groups. This week in Math, we are doing some very challenging problems that incorporate addition and subtraction, and introduce the students to the idea of a 'balanced' equation. For example, a question could be: "5 + 2 = 10 - ___"  If you're practicing this kind of math at home, I suggest starting with 1-digit numbers - these problems can be quite tricky, even for Grade 2s!
Have a great night,
Zac
