Hi parents,
We had a pretty good day today! In the morning, we played floor hockey in gym, to get excited for the upcoming Hitmen Game. The spelling quiz went fairly well, though many students are still not grasping all of the different vowel teams, and will substitute 'oe', 'ie', 'eo' in the place of the ones we're focusing on. I think we'll spend one more short week on these ones, then move on.
We met with our Buddies and help them make 'math bosses' for their own Classroom of Doom Math Game. In writing, Ms. A led a lesson on dialogue, and focused on more interesting ways of writing 'said'. For example, exclaimed, whispered, mumbled, shouted, etc.
In Social Studies, we revisited the historic maps we'd been looking at yesterday, and the students used these maps to answer a variety of questions, where answers weren't explicitly stated. For example, to answer the question, "What were the main rivers used by Fur Traders?", students had to look at the map, examine upon which river the majority of forts were built, and use that information to predict which rivers were most important.
Next week is a three day week, but we'll be having a spelling quiz anyway, so stay tuned for those words!
Have a nice weekend,
Zac
