Hi parents,
First of all, welcome to the Room 6 blog! I try my best to update the blog every day by 4:30pm with a summary of everything we did during the day. Reading the blog is the most effective way to stay caught up with what we're learning, and important events coming up. I will also be posting our spelling words, starting next week, and sometimes there will even be "blog homework" which students can complete to earn bonus points for their tables.
Today was an awesome first day. The students settled in right away and it was so cool to see new, and old, friendships blossoming.
We worked on 'Morning Math', which the students will do every day when they enter the classroom. Today's questions were focused on reviewing concepts from Grade 2/3.
We also did some journal writing. The students wrote about their summer break adventures.
The class designed their own 'cubby labels', showcasing their artistic skills and personalities.
The rest of our day was spent talking about classroom expectations, school expectations, a school and classroom tour, and of course, getting to know everyone. We did a couple ice breaker activities, including "Dice-Breaker", in which we passed around a big die and answered questions based on the number showing. We had a sharing circle to introduce ourselves, and we also did a casual walk around the field. The day flew by!
Thank you for reading the blog - I hope it helps to spark some conversation at home!
Have a nice night,
Zac
