Wednesday, April 12

 Hi parents,

We had a great day today! In the morning, Mr. Ripka taught the students about plastic recycling. We learned about the seven kinds of recyclable plastics. Students got to see examples of each kind, learned how to locate the symbol that indicates whether or not something is recyclable, and where they should put the plastics that are.

We spent more time doing research for our social studies brochures. Most students are just about ready to start their good copies! I was talking to a grade 1/2 teacher and it made me realize what a huge jump this project is compared to the research projects students were doing in previous school years. This will undoubtedly be something they're proud of, when all is said and done.

We spent a bit more time reviewing division with remainders.

BLOG HOMEWORK: Solve the following word problem. (+2 table points)

I am at a restaurant with my 4 friends. We order two dozen chicken wings. We try to share them as           evenly as possible. How many wings does each person get? How many wings are left over?

In the afternoon, we did Daily LA, learned a bit more about the Medicine Wheel, played kickball outside for gym, and ended our day by reading Ticket to Curlew. We are about halfway done Chapter 4 now.

Have a nice day!

Zac
