Hi parents,
We had a pretty good day today! It was one of those Tuesdays that felt more like a Monday.
We practiced spelling words and did some journal writing. We are still working on 'persistence' with writing and unfortunately a lot of students are still deciding to be 'done' their work as soon as it meets the minimum requirements. In a Montessori classroom this is a tricky problem to address as we're trying to build independence and intrinsic motivation, and to encourage students to take pride in their work, rather than just telling them write more.
We learned about animal diets, and the differences between carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. The students worked in partners to research animals on Raz-Kids and sort them based on their diets. They did an awesome job with this activity and I'm sure the work they do tomorrow at the zoo will be even better!
On that note - tomorrow is our zoo field trip, and I am so happy to report that I have received forms from everyone! Thank you for getting those back so quickly! The weather looks a little chilly and maybe snowy, so please ensure your child is dressed warmly, and with layers, as certain parts of the zoo are actually quite hot.
If you have any questions please email me at zalink@cbe.ab.ca.
Have a nice night!
Zac
