Tuesday, May 6

 Hi parents,

We had a great day today and did a lot of work!

In the morning, the students worked in partners to read pages from our social studies textbook and answer comprehension questions about the Northwest Mounted Police, Whisky Traders, and Wolfers. Turns out Alberta in the 1870's was pretty much the wild west.

In math, we did a follow up fraction activity, in which the students were given colourful strips of paper, and asked to cut them into fractions. This activity helped the students visualize bigger and small fractions.

In the afternoon, we did Daily LA, and then learned about Haiku poetry. We learned that Haiku are always about nature, and often have a 'season word', that gives a clue as to what season it is describing. The students wrote their own practice Haiku.

We ended the day with work period, and Ticket To Curlew.

Have a nice night,

Zac
